Full Description:

Position: Social Dance Instructor: Northern Virginia Junior Cotillion

NVJC teaches etiquette and social dance to middle school and high school students throughout Fairfax and Arlington counties. Classes are divided by age and meet approximately once a month from September to March (No classes in December). We are looking for a dance instructor to join our team to instill in our students the confidence that comes with a knowledge of social dance.

Our dance instructor is responsible for teaching beginning and intermediate students in swing, fox trot, cha-cha, and waltz for half of each ninety-minute class (45 minutes total, split into two parts). The other 45 minutes will be taught by our etiquette instructor.

You will teach students from 18 classes in five monthly sessions and a ball between September and March. We also have 5 classes for older students who do not have dance instruction each month but their dance instruction adds another 12 weeknight sessions and one or two Friday or Saturday evenings. There are no sessions for dance instruction in December. Students are not learning to dance for a performance but for the social aspect. We are open to splitting the schedule between two dance instructors or having one dance instructor teach all classes.

This position requires an individual who can work well with groups of tweens and teens and make learning dance engaging and enjoyable.
