Father’s Day & Reflect and Perfect

Dear Cotillion Students,

I hope that you have had a wonderful school year. For most of you, school is out for the summer or will be next week! As the school year comes to an end and summer begins, this is a perfect time for reflection. This week, I have two cotillion challenges for you! (No complaints – you have time, no homework from school!)

Challenge One:

Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 15th. Over the course of the next week, I encourage you to take some time and ‘reflect’ on (think about) your father and the other ‘fathers’ (grandfathers, uncles, step-fathers, etc.) in your life – the service that they have given you and the examples they have set for you. Take a few minutes to: stop, think, and remember (these are the three steps in reflection) all that they have done for you. Then think about what you have learned from them and how you can be a better person because of the lessons they have taught. Take a moment to write them a thank you note/letter and let them know why you appreciate them and just how much they are appreciated.

Challenge Two:

Ladies and gentlemen know the importance of reflection in helping them to recognize the lessons they have learned and are learning. I want you to:

Reflect – take a few minutes, stop and really think about all of the things that have happened in the past 12 months and how you have met the challenges in your life.

I also want you to take time to think about how to:

‘Perfect’ – Did you know that ‘perfection’ is a process not a destination? It is the process of continually working to make ourselves our very best, one small step at a time. What would you like to do moving forward? What changes would you like to make to become a better version of yourself? Summer is a wonderful time to reflect and perfect

Where will you be this time next year? The amazing thing is that you get to decide! The choices that you make, where you invest your heart and your time will determine what happens over the next 12 months. Choose wisely. Choose to be your best self and choose to make your life wonderful.

To my students that just graduated, I have great confidence in you. I have seen your kindness in so many ways, I have been inspired by your brilliance and drive. I have felt the depth that you have – each of you has gifts, talents and abilities that will allow you to serve and make wonderful contributions to the world. I miss you already! Please keep in touch.

Have a wonderful summer – and remember good manners never take a vacation!

Love,

Mrs. Achiu
