Dear Cotillion Students,
Happy Valentine’s Day! In just a few days Valentine’s Day will be here so I wanted to take some time today to review a little Valentine’s Etiquette!
Valentine’s Day is a day where we can let our family and friends know that your life is better because they are part of it. Shower them with your kindness and attention! Let them know that you appreciate them. While you are at it, have a generous heart and look around you – is there someone that could use a little extra attention? Today is a good day to show them some!
You can show them you care with:
A note or card
A treat – homemade cookies or a candy treat
A thoughtful act of service
Or by making dinner for your family
Remember:
A valentine does not need to be big or expensive to be meaningful.
Be careful to send the right message. Valentine’s Day is not just for romance, it is also for friendship. Just make sure the right message is sent!
Never fake your feelings just so that you can have a ‘boyfriend’ or ‘girlfriend’ for Valentine’s Day. I only bring this up because I have seen it many times. Fake feelings are just that – fake! Focus on being your best self and a true friend.
If you are planning a Valentine’s Party or handing out Valentine’s treats at school, make this a time to be inclusive. Don’t leave some friends off the guest list of a big party. Hurt feelings can last a long time. If you are handing out treats at school or to an after school team, have enough for everyone.
If you have grandparents or family members that live far away, be sure to put their valentine’s in the mail in time for them to receive them on or before Valentine’s Day.
Get into the spirit of the day & enjoy a treat or two. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Love,
Mrs. Achiu
