Having a grateful heart and learning to appreciate all of the good things in our lives.
Dear Cotillion Students,
One of the characteristics of being a lady or a gentleman is that you are aware and grateful. This week I invite you to practice being more aware and more grateful for all of the good things you have. I encourage you to:
- Make a list of the things that you are grateful for and add to it every day.
- Remember to say ‘thank you’ every time someone does something nice for you, is thoughtful of you, or is kind to you. Our families need to hear that we appreciate them.
- Write a thank you note to someone. Let someone know you appreciate them.
You could send your thank you note to a family member that you live with or that lives away from you, a friend that has always been there for you, a teacher that has made an extra effort to help you learn something that does not come easily for you, a coach or anyone else that you can thing of that you would like to express appreciation for.
How to write a thank you note:
- Think before you write
- Use black or dark blue ink, please
- Write in cursive if you know how, neatly regardless. (If you aren’t comfortable with cursive, this might be a good time to priactice!)
- Use a greeting: Dear ______,
- The body of your note should be 3 to 4 well thought out sentences expressing your appreciation
- Close with Sincerely,…Your Friend,… or Gratefully,…
Your name goes on the back flap or upper left corner of the envelope. The recipient’s name (the person you are sending it to) and their address go in the bottom 2/3 of the envelope, slightly off center to the right.
I love you and hope to see you soon!
Love,
Mrs. Achiu
